Toyota Highlander Set to Unveil New Looks For 2011

The 2011 Toyota Highlander is undergoing some major changes to its design. The changes are occurring in both the Highlander and the Highlander Hybrid crossover models as Toyota is looking to boost sales in the opening months of 2011.

Some of the major differences you can notice right off the bat between the 2010 and the 2011 Toyota Highlander are the front grille, hood and fenders. A few features you might not know about until you check the specs of the car are a more advanced and powerful V6 engine for the Highlander Hybrid, and new user technology to make the drive more comfortable for all the passengers inside.

New Styling Package for 2011

When redesigning the Highlander for 2011, Toyota went for a sophisticated look by redesigning the front end grille, hood and fenders. The headlights and tail lamps are also redesigned, as well as adding 17 inch alloy wheels. The Limited Grade Highlander has 19 inch silver wheels and includes silver-roof rails, while the SE grade gains a power liftgate. The Highlander Hybrid was made to be easily distinguishable from its gas counterparts by having vertically stacked fog lights.

Refined User Technology

The Toyota Highlander is still a popular family vehicle and Toyota looked to build on this customer base by offering third row seating standard in all 2011 Highlander models. A new Tech Audio which includes Bluetooth and a USB port are available standard on SE and Limited packages, and optional to add onto other models. The Highlander Hybrid base also has a leather package that includes leather seats with front heaters, powered moonroof, and an engine immobilizer with security alarm.

Improved Performance

The 2011 Toyota Highlander has three distinct types of performance choices: 2.7 liter four cylinder engine giving an average of 25 MPG with 187 horsepower. The available 3.5 liter V6 engine produces 270 horsepower and is equipped with dual variable valve timing with intelligence. The Highlander Hybrid has a new, more powerful 3.5 liter engine that combines the gas and electric motors for a total output of 280 horsepower.

Handling and Safety

The 2011 Toyota Highlander is built on one of the most capable and smooth rides on the market. It is built standard with Toyota’s Star Safety System that integrates anti-lock braking systems, traction control, and several other important safety measures. The Highlander also comes standard with seven air bags to help protect the occupants of the car in case of an accident.

Comfort

All 2011 Toyota Highlanders come standard with front and rear air conditioning, an eight way adjustable driver’s seat, power door locks and windows. The SE and Limited models include a standard back-up camera that is available to add onto the Base model. For all models with a navigation screen the back-up camera images are viewable on it.

The 2011 Toyota Highlander and Toyota Highlander Hybrid models look to visually be a big difference in last year’s model by improving the 2010 Toyota Highlander parts and adding Toyota accessories that get car owners excited to purchase a new vehicle.
